Crew members work on the netting Tuesday for the TopGolf driving range under construction at Faulkenburg Road and the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway. To keep golf balls inside the range, hurricane-proof netting wraps the entire outfield and is held aloft by 17 poles, each 150 feet tall. The TopGolf facility will include 102 driving range bays, where golfers will hit microchip-enabled balls that keep track of how far the ball flies and how close it lands to specific targets. The site will also feature three bars and a restaurant, and is expected to open at the end of the year.
