Video shows large gator lunching on a big fish at Trinity golf course

A large gator was caught on video Thursday afternoon carrying its takeout lunch across a golf course in Trinity.

"Wow, what a sight," said Norma Respess as she recorded the video of a large alligator with a fish in its mouth walking across a golf-cart path at the Seven Springs Golf and County Club. "I don't want to get near you. I'm glad you got the fish."

Respess, from Safety Harbor, had family in town from North Carolina and decided to play a round of golf Thursday afternoon.

Respess, friend Peter Bosco, who is from Dunedin; brother Nolan; and sister-in-law Phyllis were on the 10th hole around noon when Nolan shouted at Phyllis: "Look behind you! There's a gator!"

The group was on the green, Respess said, except for Phyllis, who was in the bunker.

Phyllis spotted the gator, threw her golf club into the sky and bolted while Norma grabbed her phone and started recording the video.

Respess said the group thought it was a seagull at first because the fish was so large.

"We've seen several gators," Respess said. "There's quite a bit of them over there ... but we've never seen anything like this. We will never forget it."
