Marine Corps Pfc. Ryan M. Snyder recently completed 13 weeks of basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. Snyder, a 2011 graduate of Spring Hill Christian Academy, is the son of Cynthia L. Taylor of Spring Hill and Richard C. Snyder of Ballwin, Mo.

Marine Corps Pfc. Ashley B. Rose recently completed 13 weeks of basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. Rose, a 2010 graduate of Monterey High School in Burbank, Calif., is the daughter of Mari-Beth Rose of Spring Hill and Joseph Rose of Burbank.

Marine Corps Pfc. Christopher T. Wright recently completed 13 weeks of basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. Wright is the son of Terry Wright of Spring Hill and Robert Wright of Morris Chapel, Tenn.

The Anderson Snow Senior Softball League began its winter season Jan. 3. The teams include Complete Automotive Care, Suncoast Urology, Periodontal Therapy Center, Roth Dental, Jim's Fixit A/C & Heat, and Rookies Sports Bar & Grill.

The Senior Softball Invitational League of Spring Hill began its winter season Sept. 18. The league is for players 50 and older. This year's teams include: Rookies/Dr. Michael Higgins, Kokomos Pub and Grill/Chaney Chiropractic, Salute Italian Restaurant and Texas Roadhouse.

    A 4-year-old girl was airlifted with serious injuries after a personal watercraft she was riding on collided with a boat in the Intracoastal Waterway near Clearwater Beach just before 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

  3. Hernando Sheriff's Office identifies bank robber killed after chase, places 7 deputies on administrative leave


    Authorities have identified a bank robbery suspect fatally shot by Hernando County sheriff's deputies after a wild chase Friday in which the fleeing suspect rammed several patrol cars in Brooksville.

    Scott Michael Chamberlain, 44, died after a deputy-involved shooting Friday. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office said that Chamberlaine attempted to rob a bank before taking deputies on a pursuit. (Florida Department of Corrections)
