Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Karl A. Seghorn, whose wife, Jennifer, is the daughter of Florence and Frank Kassay of Spring Hill, was recently awarded the Battle Efficiency "E" achievement along with other sailors attached to the guided-missile destroyer USS Farragut. The award recognized the crew for displaying excellence in maritime warfare, engineering, survivability, command, control, communication and information warfare.

Navy Seaman Jacob E. Owens recently completed Navy basic training at the Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Owens, a 2012 graduate of River Ridge High School in New Port Richey, is the son of Regina P. DiVirgilis of Spring Hill and Jason Owens of New Port Richey.
