LECANTO — An 86-year-old man died Saturday afternoon after he suffered a "medical event" and lost control of his sport utility vehicle, authorities said.
Peter A. Costello, of Lecanto, was driving in the parking lot of the Diamond Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, 2730 W Marc Knighton Court, when he suffered a medical emergency, the Florida Highway Patrol said. His 2012 Dodge Journey crashed into a parked car.
Costello was taken to Citrus Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
An investigation is ongoing.
