NEW PORT RICHEY — Residents of Wesley Chapel's Williamsburg community may be in for some noisy nights.

Contractors building the State Road 56 extension got county permission Thursday to work around the clock on the road, which is needed for access to the Shops at Wiregrass mega-mall that is set to open Oct. 30.

The original agreement limited construction to between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. But developers say they need the extra time to make up for delays and ensure the road opens on time.

County engineer Jim Widman attached several conditions to the approval, including a provision that crews not violate the county's noise ordinance. He also required that trucks not bang the tailgates.

Contractors said they expect the evening work to be only for about 10 days.

Members of the county's Development Review Committee approved the request with little discussion after no residents showed up to object.
