TAMPA — People hoping to turn a buck from the Super Bowl will have to follow some rules in and around the major venues.

The Tampa City Council on Thursday established "clean zones" around Raymond James Stadium and the Tampa Convention Center during the runup to the Super Bowl on Feb. 1.

Similar zones were set up for the 2001 Super Bowl and the 2008 NCAA women's Final Four.

Here's what it means:

People wanting to sell merchandise or anything else must apply for city permission to set up a tent on private property, not public right of way. The tent must be white and at least 600 square feet in size. All sales must be confined to within the tent.

Clean zone boundaries near the stadium are roughly Hillsborough Avenue on the north to Palmetto Avenue on the south. N Grady Avenue is the western boundary, except near Hillsborough Community College, where it will extend to N Lois Avenue. The eastern boundary is jagged, but mostly runs along Himes Avenue.

The clean zone that includes the Convention Center also takes in the Embassy Suites and Tampa Marriott Waterside hotels, hubs for media outlets and National Football League officials.
