Bus stop restrooms under way Shoppes at Park Place

PINELLAS PARK — The agency that runs the county bus service broke ground Monday on a terminal and restrooms at the Shoppes at Park Place — more than a year after they were promised.

The board of the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority unanimously voted in July 2012 to build the structure, the first of its kind for the agency, after Pinellas Park and mall officials complained that passengers were relieving themselves behind a nearby dumpster because they did not have enough time between buses to find a restroom in a nearby business. The city and mall owners threatened to close the PSTA transit station on the 70th Avenue N side of the Shoppes at Park Place if no action was taken.

It is unclear when construction will be finished.
