Cigar City micro-brewery wins approval for tasting room

TAMPA — Cigar City Brewing won final City Council approval Thursday to keep the beer-tasting room at its micro-brewery on W Spruce Street.

The business had a temporary wet-zoning but asked the city to make that permanent. Neighbors from Lincoln Gardens and Carver City had opposed the tasting-room, saying it bred crime. But police said they had few calls to the business.

The final vote was 4-3, with Council Chairman Thomas Scott and Council members Gwen Miller and Curtis Stokes voting no.
