Deadline approaches for Hillsborough Women's Hall of Fame

TAMPA — The deadline for nominating candidates for the Hillsborough County Women's Hall of Fame is Nov. 22.

As many as three honorees will be chosen by the county's Commission on the Status of Women for induction in the hall of fame at a ceremony May 7 at the Tampa Convention Center.

Past winners include former County Commissioner Jan Platt, former University of South Florida president Betty Castor, Clerk of the Circuit Court Pat Frank and the late children's advocate Dottie Berger MacKinnon, among others.

The county says selection criteria could include achievements in a chosen field; efforts to elevate the status of women; enduring contributions to the quality of life for residents; service to the community; and inspiration to society. A biographical sketch, photo and description of qualifications are required.

Nomination forms may be submitted online. For more information, call (813) 276-2640 or visit
