TAMPA — The HART board has suspended chief executive officer David Armijo with pay for two weeks while officials investigate allegations that Armijo misused funds, among other complaints.
The board called a special meeting Monday about the allegations, which were not spelled out. The employees who filed the complaint are unnamed.
After almost two hours of discussion, the transit board took the advice of its attorneys and decided to suspended Armijo during the investigation.
HART spokeswoman Marcia Mejia released a statement from Armijo:
"Although I have no personal knowledge of the allegations at hand, I do recognize the importance of allowing all parties the opportunity to comprehensively and impartially review them,'' he said. "Because of the sensitivity of this matter, I cannot further comment on it, but I am confident this will be resolved as soon as findings are furnished."
