Pier Diary, May 3: Enjoying the walk while it lasts

Old Northeast resident Michelle Fowler usually varies her walking routes. Of late, she's become a bit more predicable.

"I've been sticking to the Pier route because I know I don't have much time left," she said, mentioning how much she enjoys the waterfront view, the birds and catching sight of same people every day. And it's safe too.

She is philosophical about the change ahead. The Lens is looking forward, she says, and bets that the inverted pyramid also had been viewed as before its time.

"It's hard on everybody," she says of the process of change.
