PINELLAS PARK — Homeowners here who want to spruce up their properties will get a bit of help during the annual Pride in the Park program.

For three weeks the city will waive permit fees for certain repairs including reroofing and fence installation. If approved by the City Council at Thursday's meeting, this year's moratorium on fees will run from March 3 to 21.

When officials conceived of Pride in the Park, they also decided to reward residents with a citywide party. Thus Country in the Park was born.

A few years ago, Pinellas Park's firefighters tagged on by establishing their annual Chili Blaze to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This year's Chili Blaze will be from 6 to 11 p.m. March 14 at England Brothers Park, 5010 81st Ave. N. The free event will have entertainment, an arts and crafts show, children's activities and a fireworks display.

Country in the Park will be March 15, also at England Brothers Park. The free event will begin at 10 a.m. The day includes musical performances, an arts and crafts show, pony rides, a car show, a plant sale and children's activities.

For information about Pride in the Park, call (727) 541-0700. For information about Country in the Park, call (727) 541-0895. For information about the Chili Blaze, call Nick DelGrosso (727) 687-4494 or visit chiliblaze.com.
