The Sun Coast Police Benevolent Association has endorsed Neil Brickfield in his bid for re-election to the Pinellas County Commission.
"Public officials are very important people to law enforcement officers," the union said in its announcement. "We feel that (Brickfield) will be of the very best and we wish (him) a successful election."
The Sun Coast PBA represents law enforcement officers from agencies across the county.
Brickfield, 49, is a Republican who formerly served on the Safety Harbor City Commission. He is seeking a second term in Seat 1 and says he plans to continue his efforts to keep public safety as the first priority, to bring better jobs to Pinellas, to improve transportation and to watch spending.
He is being challenged by Democrat Janet Long. Long, 67, is a former state representative who has served on the Seminole City Council.
Seat 1 is an at-large position elected countywide. County commissioners serve four-year terms and are paid $90,389 a year.
