PORT RICHEY — Officials have set the qualifying deadline for the special election to fill the mayor's seat.
The qualifying period will run from noon June 5 to noon June 12, City Clerk Tammy Schuck announced Tuesday evening at a City Council meeting.
The special election will be held in conjunction with the Aug. 14 primary. The city is looking to fill the seat vacated by former Mayor Richard Rober, who resigned in March prior to the federal government filing a charge against him for unpaid income taxes. Council member Bill Colombo is serving as acting mayor.
