TAMPA

County adamant on no tax increase

Hillsborough County commissioners made it clear Thursday that they're not going to raise taxes — not even a little tiny bit. But that will require further budget cuts. At a public hearing Thursday, a parade of people asked them to spare programs — especially after-school and summer programs for kids at county parks. Commissioners said they'd work to save parks programs, especially since parents said they'd be willing to pay to keep them going.
