Seminole officially hires new city manager

SEMINOLE — Council members here made it official Tuesday. Ann Toney-Deal is the new Seminole city manager. Toney-Deal will replace Frank Edmunds, Seminole's first city manager, who is retiring after 20 years on the job.

Council members agreed Tuesday to pay Toney-Deal $125,000 per year. She will start work Aug. 7 and will take over full time on Aug. 15. Edmunds' last day is Aug. 14. He is earning about $125,000 annually.

Toney-Deal, 54, is a native Floridian who was born in Bartow and grew up in Fort Meade. She is the director of administration and communications for the Florida Veterinary Medical Association.

Before that, she worked for 20 years in Haines City. The first year, she was the assistant city manager. The last 19, she was the city manager. Before that, she served as deputy city manager for North Miami Beach, and was assistant city manager and assistant to the city manager in Boynton Beach.
