Two cities come out to fill slots

Voters in Pinellas Park and Seminole went to the polls Tuesday to fill seats on both city councils.

In Pinellas Park, Mayor Bill Mischler ran for re-election against Jan Macumber, while incumbent Rick Butler faced community activist Marshall Cook in the race for Seat 3.

The Seat 4 race was crowded with six candidates vying for the slot left vacant by the retirement of Patricia Bailey-Snook. Voters had a choice of former state Rep. Mary Brennan, Patricia Johnson, Randy Heine, Ed Kosinski, Jerry Mullins or Patricia Macfarlane.

Seminole Mayor Jimmy Johnson, who is in Tampa General Hospital recovering from a lung transplant, had a laptop computer set up for him so he could watch Tuesday's council meeting and the election results in that city. See photo on Page 8.

Seminole had two vacant seats with four candidates: incumbents John Counts and Bob Matthews, former council member Trina Watkins and Patricia Plantamura, who was making her second run for the council.
