Zephyrhills annexes land so airport can expand

ZEPHYRHILLS — The City Council gave final approval Monday night to annexing 42 acres on the northern side of the Zephyrhills Municipal Airport for possible future expansion.

The acreage off Chancey and Tucker roads, at the north end of the airport, consists of two vacant parcels: 17.5 acres the city purchased in May from Acme Development Corp., and 24.5 acres owned by Acme.

While there is no plan now for a runway expansion, that could change as a consultant creates the airport master plan, officials said.
