TAMPA — MacDill Air Force Base opens 2 miles of its south shore to fishing Sunday, allowing even civilian anglers access to coveted waters. The event starts at 6:15 a.m. and ends at 4:15 p.m. With military credentials, you can launch your boat from MacDill; otherwise, motor up to the base marina from the water side to register. (Look for the security forces and channel markers.) Once there, you'll get a marker to put on your vessel and a map showing where it's okay to fish. Local law enforcement will be on the water helping to keep an eye on things.
