Man dies after falling out of golf cart in the Villages

THE VILLAGES — A 70-year-old man died Saturday night after falling out of a golf cart in the Villages retirement community, authorities say.

David Tillman, a resident of the community, was a passenger in the cart driven by 65-year-old Charles Haines, also a resident of the Villages. Haines was turning left in a roundabout when Tillman fell out and hit the curb, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Tillman was taken to the Villages Regional Hospital, where he died. The incident is under investigation.

In June, a 27-year-old Land O'Lakes woman died after also being thrown from a golf cart.

Erika Susan Robinson was a passenger in a cart that was turning into the Lake Padgett Estates East neighborhood when she was ejected into the road.
