BROOKSVILLE — A 63-year-old man was found dead Thursday alongside his pickup truck at Big Tree Mobile Home Park, authorities said.

Sheriff's deputies initially thought Larry Wood had been run over by his green Ford F-150. But sheriff's Sgt. Donna Black said Wood suffered from an undisclosed medical condition.

Wood, a resident of Big Tree Mobile Home Park on U.S. 41 south of Brooksville, had been taking a lot of painkillers recently, said Randy Morse, manager of the park.

Morse and Rory Ryniker, the first two to discover Wood's body, said Wood's wife died in the past week, following a lengthy illness.

"He was pretty depressed," Ryniker said. "He had planned to spread his wife's ashes in the bay."

There was no evidence of foul play, Black said. An investigation was continuing.
