Man's body found in water in Belleair

BELLEAIR — A body discovered in the water near Belleair Friday afternoon may be that of a boater reported missing off the Clearwater coast on Jan. 31, authorities said.

City of Clearwater spokeswoman Joelle Castelli said there are early indications the body may be that of the missing boater, but said she could not release further details.

The man, who has not been named, was reported missing to the U.S. Coast Guard by family members, who told authorities at the time that he may have been suicidal. His boat was found that same day near the Sand Key Coast Guard Station at 1375 Gulf Blvd.
