MacDill Air Force Base honors fallen soldiers in early Memorial Day ceremony

TAMPA — MacDill Air Force Base conducted a Memorial Day ceremony Thursday, a few days ahead of the official holiday.

Several events were planned starting at 8 a.m., including a 21-gun salute, presentation of the American flag, a KC-135 flyover and singing America the Beautiful. Sixth Air Mobility Wing Commander Col. Lenny Richoux also was scheduled to speak.

The reading of a poem was also planned along with the playing of taps and the laying of a wreath.
