Marine meets baby girl born while he was deployed

Marine Cpl. Thomas Thornsberry met his daughter, Abigael Mae Thornsberry, on Tuesday.

Abigael was born May 22, while Thornsberry was deployed for eight months aboard the USS Green Bay. His deployment began in September and his wife, Ana, found out she was pregnant a week after his ship left Camp Pendleton in San Diego.

The couple were married in 2011 in Tampa and Ana moved back to the bay area to stay with her parents while her husband was deployed.

Abigael was born last month and her father witnessed the delivery over Skype.

"I'm just happy to be home and hold her, and finally get to see my baby girl," Thornsberry said on Wednesday.

Now that his military service has ended, he plans to attend the Police Academy in Hillsborough County.
