Paul Scott Polgar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Polgar of Safety Harbor, completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Polgar completed training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

The capstone event of boot camp is "Battle Stations," an exercise that gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet.

Polgar, who currently holds the rank of E3, will undertake two years of study to become an electronic technician. He is a graduate of Countryside High in Clearwater and has completed four years of engineering classes at the University of Florida.
