Army National Guard Pfc. Gavin E. Rogers, son of Danielle and Arthur Rogers and brother of Brittany Rogers, all of Palm Harbor, graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
During nine weeks of training, the soldier received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
Rogers is a 2011 graduate of Tarpon Springs High and earned an associate degree in 2013 from St. Petersburg College, Tarpon Springs.

Air Force Airman Frankecha M. Macfie, daughter of Marie Fagundo of Clearwater and Frankie Macfie of Dix Hills, N.Y., graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Macfie is a 2011 graduate of Clearwater High.
