Pinellas military kudos

Army Lt. Col. William D. Ritter, son of Richard L. Ritter of Lebanon, Pa., and Virginia R. Brown of Denver, Pa., and son-in-law of Dennis F. Doughman of Seminole, has earned a master of arts degree in communication arts, advertising and public relations specialization. Ritter is assigned to the Army Reserve Medical Command in Pinellas Park.

Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Rachael L. Shull, daughter of Vickie L. Watson of Homosassa and Mark J. Shull of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center, Cape May, N.J.

Coast Guard Seaman Jacob N. Davis, son of Debbie M. Davis of Belleair and Jeff N. Davis of Largo, has graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center, Cape May, N.J. Davis is a 2010 graduate of Largo High School.

Coast Guard Seaman Kyle B. King, son of Teresa M. and Chris P. King of Largo, has graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center, Cape May, N.J. King is a 2010 graduate of Indian Rocks Christian School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Tyler E. Durkee, son of Silvia A. Durkee of St. Petersburg, has graduated from U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Army Pfc. Charles A. Hager Jr., son of Charles Hager of St. Petersburg, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Hager is a 2010 graduate of Boca Ciega High School.

Army National Guard Pvt. Stephen J. Jerde, son of Jackie Jerde of Delano, Minn., and grandson of Glenn Freeland of Redington Shores, has graduated from Direct Fire Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Derek L. Williams, son of Brenda P. and Willie L. Williams of St. Petersburg, has graduated from U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Williams is a 2007 graduate of Lakewood High School.

U.S. Army Cpl. Joshua M. Frappier, son of Marc and Deborah Frappier of St. Petersburg, has earned the Bronze Star Medal with Valor for his performance during Operation Strong Eagle. His team was fired upon by insurgent fighters and as team leader for the 1st platoon, he managed his team responsibly and safely. Frappier also shielded a wounded soldier from gunfire. Gen. David Petraeus presented the award during a ceremony at Forward Operating Base Fenty. Frappier is a 2004 graduate of St. Petersburg Catholic High School.

Army Pvt. Jorma J. Douglas, son of Brooke Douglas of Largo, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Air Force Airman Rashid B. Philippe, son of Guerda Nicolas of St. Petersburg, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Philippe is a 2008 graduate of Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa.
