Zephyrhills soldier dies from wounds in Afghanistan

A 22-year-old solider from Zephyrhills has died from wounds he received in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced today.

Spc. Jonathan C. O'Neill, 22, Monday at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He was wounded June 2 in Paktya, Afghanistan, by an improvised explosive device that detonated near his vehicle, the DOD said.

O'Neill as assigned to the 549th Military Police Company, 385th Military Police Battalion, 16th Military Police Brigade (Airborne) at Fort Stewart, Ga.
