DETROIT — A Detroit woman accused of killing two of her children and storing their bodies in her home freezer told a judge on Friday that she wants to plead guilty as soon as possible and would accept the death penalty if Michigan had one.

Mitchelle Blair, 36, said she doesn't need more time to think about a defense.

"I'm already saying I did it. … I'm not changing my mind. I'm not changing anything," Blair told a judge in 36th District Court.

She is charged with first-degree murder, torture and child abuse.

The bodies of a 13-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son were discovered in a home freezer during an eviction in March. The children died months apart in 2012 and 2013.

Judge Kenneth King, noting evaluations by experts, said Blair was competent to stand trial.

A conviction carries life in prison with no chance for parole.
