Ky. college loses $250M donation
A small Kentucky liberal arts college lost out on one of the largest gifts in U.S. higher education history when the $250 million donation was withdrawn, school officials said Monday. Centre College in Danville, Ky. — known for hosting vice presidential debates in 2000 and 2012 — said the all-stock gift from the A. Eugene Brockman Charitable Trust was linked to a corporate recapitalization overseen by Brockman's son, Bob Brockman, that didn't pan out. So the gift was withdrawn.
Fourth porn actor reports having HIV
A fourth performer in the adult film industry in Los Angeles County has tested HIV positive in recent weeks, according to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, a group that backs the use of condoms in filming. "We were approached by a male performer," foundation president Michael Weinstein said. The Free Speech Coalition, an industry trade group, called a filming moratorium Friday after a third performer tested positive.
