New watering restrictions for Pinellas County customers will take affect Monday

Pinellas County will impose increased restrictions on reclaimed water sprinkling beginning Monday.

Reclaimed water will be available only two days per week for irrigation in 24-hour intervals beginning at 12:01 a.m. A county spokesperson said the changes were necessary to keep water levels from becoming dangerously low after a dry spring that increased customer demand.

Under the new regulations, the system will undergo maintenance and storage level recovery on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Watering will be prohibited between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Addresses ending in an even number can water on Tuesday and Saturday, while addresses ending in an odd number can water on Wednesday and Sunday.

If you cannot determine addresses on your property, officials advise watering on Wednesday and Sunday.

The changes will affect portions of Pinellas Park, Palm Harbor and the beaches which rely on reclaimed water from the county. St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Dunedin, and Tarpon Springs use their own reclaimed water.
