Tampa Bay Taps celebrates inaugural season: Tampa Bay Taps held its kickoff event for its inaugural season at the Rigsby Center in Safety Harbor. Beth Caprio, founder of the Tampa Bay Tap Festival and the Rhythm and Sole Tap Ensemble, held the event with Cathy Scavelli, who has choreographed for the Second Time Arounders marching band, and Brandon Bowers, who treated students with a lesson in drums and rhythm. Tampa Bay Taps was created to celebrate one of the greatest American art forms and offers classes for beginners and pre-professionals as well as in drumming and percussion.

Pinellas Realtor Organization honors top members: The Pinellas Realtor Organization held its annual business meeting, at which it installed new members and gave out awards. The Realtor of the Year is Brandi Gabbard of Smith & Associates Real Estate. John Rurkowski of Charles Rutenberg Realty earned the Realtor Achievement Award. The Rookie of the Year is Melissa Honey-cutt of Coldwell Banker Residential, and the Affiliate of the Year is John Barie of JB Health & Life Solutions. The following PRO members received the Good Neighbor Award for making an extraordinary impact on the community: Bob Barnum, Isabel Caruso, Marcia Ellis, Scott Rehm, Tom Shelly and Torrie Tiernan. Five PRO members received the Realtor Emeritus honor: Sue Flaig, Gary Guetzlaff, April Hornsleth, Mark Legg and Charles Oldanie. The Emeritus status includes any person who has held membership in the National Association of Realtors for 40 or more years.

Dunedin Kiwanis Club honors local firefighter: The Kiwanis Club of Dunedin presented firefighter and EMT Jason Griggs from station 60 with the Firefighter First Responder Award for 2015. Griggs received this award for his dedication to the community, his family and the profession. Last year, Griggs also was recognized as the 2014-2015 Firefighter of the Year and earned the Medal of Valor for his initiative and bravery when helping rescue a family off Anclote Island.

Galleries on the Go recognized by SCORE: SCORE, mentors to America's small businesses, announced that Galleries on the Go in Pinellas County was a winner of the foundation's annual SCORE Awards for Outstanding Encore Entrepreneur Award presented by FranNet. The awards recognize people and companies that demonstrate a unique vision, innovation and achievement in support of small-business communities. Galleries on the Go was given the award at the 2015 awards gala in Washington, D.C.
