Pinellas Park girl is rushed to the hospital after being struck by car

PINELLAS PARK — Authorities are on the scene of an accident involving a car and a small girl on a bicycle.

The accident happened about 4:45 p.m. on 70th Avenue North and 65th Street. Pinellas Park police said a white Saturn struck the girl on her bike at the intersection. One witness said the girl fell in front of the car as it was stopped at a stop sign, so the driver may not have seen her.

The girl is conscious and was taken to a local hospital.

The scene is a few blocks away from the intersection where a 17-year-old girl was killed Friday morning as she ran across the street to catch her school bus. She was crossing against the light, authorities say, and was struck by a northbound car on 66th Street at 70th Avenue.
