Two challengers seek mosquito board seats

Two incumbents face challengers for their seats on the Pasco County Mosquito Control District Board in the Nov. 8 general election. Shanon R. Holm is running against incumbent Gary "Buck" Joiner, and Jerry A. Wells is challenging incumbent Sandra Applefield.

The three-member board oversees a roughly $7 million annual budget and sets a property tax rate for the district. Members are elected countywide to four-year terms and are paid $400 a month.
