Florida may set new rules for where legislators can live

TALLAHASSEE

Legislators may face new residency rules

A flurry of news stories about where state lawmakers live is prompting Florida's legislative leaders to devise new standards.

State Sen. Jack Latvala, R-Clearwater, earlier this month asked for an inquiry into whether a half-dozen legislators were flouting the state law that requires legislators to live in the districts they represent.

Senate President Don Gaetz and House Speaker Will Weatherford on Wednesday stopped short of authorizing an investigation. Instead, they wrote in a letter to Latvala that the Legislature has never developed a "clear set of principles" to determine residency. They are asking election officials to turn over a list of the voter registration addresses of all 160 members by Sept. 1.

  4. Men have body image issues too

    Health

I have lost and gained weight several times in my adult life. It wasn't a problem when I was younger and working construction. An "ideal" office job 30 years ago started the yo-yo effect. I don't have any more weight to lose, but the potential of gaining it back is always there.
