Incumbent Chris Latavala secured the District 67 seat of the Florida House of Representatives with 58 percent of the vote, winning a somewhat contentious race against Democratic challenger David Vogel.

After his win Tuesday night, Latvala, who was first elected to the seat in 2014, said he and his camp never took to race lightly.

"We were out in front of polling places until 7 o'clock tonight," he said. "I worked hard, and it is a great honor to keep serving."

Latvala, 34, said he plans to continue his focus on constituent service in the district, which covers parts of Largo and Clearwater, by helping voters "navigate state government." He said he is happy to represent those who did — and those who did not — vote for him.

"I am just as much as a representative of those people who didn't as those who did," he said.
