• A campaign fundraiser for Nicholas "Nick" Nicholson will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hogan Law Firm, 11031 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill. The recommended donation is $100. Nicholson, a Republican, is running for the Hernando County Commission District 1 seat. Reservations are required by Monday. • A campaign fundraiser for Bobby Sullivan, a Republican candidate for sheriff, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Papa Joe's Italian Restaurant, 6244 Spring Lake Highway, east of Brooksville. • The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce's government affairs committee will host "Politics in the Park" from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 S Broad St., Brooksville.
The public can meet local, state and federal candidates at the old-fashioned political rally. Visitors will also be able to participate in a straw poll administered by the Hernando County supervisor of elections, register to vote and enter a drawing to win two tickets to a Tampa Bay Rays game.
