• A campaign fundraiser for James "Eddie" McConnell, Democratic candidate for Hernando County sheriff, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 18 at Louie's Bowling Center, 1691 E Jefferson St., Brooksville.
A steak dinner will be served from 4 to 8 p.m. for $10. An "ol' fashion auction" with an auctioneer will start at 6 p.m. A variety of items will be auctioned, including jewelry and framed art.
Auction items may be purchased with check or cash (cash payments cannot exceed $50 per person). Tickets to the event may be purchased at the door.
