Mike Fasano officially endorses Democrat in District 36 race

TAMPA

Former state legislator and longtime Pasco Republican Mike Fasano on Friday did what he has said for weeks he wouldn't do: He offered an official endorsement of the Democrat running to fill his seat.

While filming an edition of "Florida This Week" on WEDU, Fasano was asked if he was endorsing Murphy. He said yes.

Fasano, who is now Pasco's tax collector, had previously stopped short of an official endorsement, although he had acknowledged voting for Murphy. He also paid for thousands of automated phone calls urging district voters to ignore campaign fliers sent on behalf of Murphy's Republican opponent, Bill Gunter.
