Meet your state senators

Half of the 40 Senate districts are up for election every two years. Senators can serve two terms for a total of eight years. For the 2011 legislative session, there are 28 Republicans and 12 Democrats, with no vacancies.

Senate districts were drawn in 2002 to include roughly 400,000 people each. New districts will be drawn in 2012.

Districts will be redrawn this year based on the 2010 Census. State officials have set up a website, MyDistrictBuilder, which allows you to explore how the districts might be redrawn. But you'll have to be patient. That site currently is very slow to load.
