TAMPA — Ann Romney will headline the opening night of the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
The wife of Mitt Romney will take the stage Aug. 27 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in the evening session of the convention themed "A Better Future."
Florida Gov. Rick Scott will also address the convention that night.
A preview of the schedule was released on the convention's mobile app. Other speakers the first day include: House Speaker John Boehner; Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.; Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash.; former Democratic congressman Artur Davis; Texas Senate candidate Ted Cruz; South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley; former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee; and Mrs. Lucé Vela Fortuño, the first lady of Puerto Rico.
The first day at the convention will be the only double-session. The first starts at 2 p.m. with opening ceremonies, welcoming remarks, roll call and consideration of committee reports. The second session begins at 7:30 p.m.
