Former President Barack Obama returned to social media on Tuesday to wish his wife, Michelle, a happy Valentine's Day.

Obama had last tweeted on Jan. 22 before posting this on Tuesday morning: Happy Valentine's Day, @michelleobama! Almost 28 years with you, but it always feels new.

About an hour later, the former first lady responded: Happy Valentine's Day to the love of my life and favorite island mate, @BarackObama. #valentines

The Obamas had traveled to the British Virgin Islands for a vacation shortly after Inauguration Day.

The Obamas weren't the only Washington power couple celebrating the holiday. A CSpan journalist posted this photo of Vice President Mike Pence buying flowers at a D.C. Whole Foods.
