Introducing PolitiFact Tennessee

The Memphis Commercial Appeal and the Knoxville News Sentinel have launched PolitiFact Tennessee, the 10th state partnership for PolitiFact.com, the Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking website of the Tampa Bay Times.

The joint effort of the two E.W. Scripps newspapers is led by Zack McMillin in Memphis and includes reporters Steve Ahillen in Knoxville; Richard Locker and Tom Humphrey in Nashville; and Bart Sullivan and Michael Collins in Washington.

Tennessee, online at politifact.com/tennessee, joins PolitiFact partners in Florida, Texas, Georgia, Rhode Island, Ohio, Wisconsin, Oregon, New Jersey and Virginia.

PolitiFact's national staff and state partners have dedicated the equivalent of 35 full-time journalists to fact-checking and have published more than 4,800 Truth-O-Meter articles.

    CLEARWATER — The Church of Scientology will be filming a mock FBI raid on its downtown campus Monday at 3 p.m., according to the Clearwater Police Department.

    According to Clearwater Police, the Church of Scientology plans to hold a mock FBI raid at 3 p.m. Monday at this vacant building at 305 N Fort Harrison Ave. Police announced the raid in advance to alert the public. They said they did not know the reason for the event. [Google Earch image]
