The Truth-O-Meter has arrived in Wisconsin.

PolitiFact, the Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking website of the St. Petersburg Times, has launched PolitiFact Wisconsin in a partnership with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

It is PolitiFact's sixth state partnership, joining sites in Florida, Texas, Georgia, Ohio and Rhode Island. The Wisconsin site can be accessed at www.politifact.com/wisconsin.

"Wisconsin voters are known for being independent thinkers and they have some lively campaigns to follow this year," said PolitiFact editor Bill Adair. "It's a great state for the Truth-O-Meter."

PolitiFact Wisconsin is integrated with the national site and uses PolitiFact's distinctive Truth-O-Meter to rate the accuracy of statements by public officials in the state.

The Wisconsin team is headed by Greg Borowski, the senior editor for projects and investigations for the Journal Sentinel, and includes Dave Umhoefer, a 2008 Pulitzer Prize winner for local reporting who has covered politics and government for 25 years; Tom Kertscher, who has covered courts and local government for the Journal Sentinel since 1998; and Jim Nelson, the paper's deputy business editor.

PolitiFact won the Pulitzer Prize for national reporting in 2009.
