U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney opens office in Riverview Friday

U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house at the location of his new office in Riverview today.

Rooney represents Florida's 17th district, which covers a sprawling 10 counties including portions of Hillsborough.

His office is at 11345 Big Bend Road in the Summerfield Shoppes plaza.

The event kicks off at noon.

A field rep and caseworker will staff the Riverview office to handle resident issues on things like Social Security, immigration or veterans' issues, and meet with local leaders and government officials.

Rooney also opened new offices in Sebring and Punta Gorda.
