PALM HARBOR — A distracted driver fatally struck a 76-year-old woman walking in a Walmart parking lot Saturday afternoon, troopers said.

Carol Wangberg Bradley of Palm Harbor was hit just after 3 p.m. at the Walmart Supercenter off U.S. 19 North at Alderman Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Bradley was using a crosswalk leading from the store's lawn and garden center when she was struck by a 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck that turned left into her path, the Highway Patrol said.

The driver, Brian Thomas Bristow, 36, of Holiday, simply "failed to observe" Bradley, the Highway Patrol said.

Bradley later died from her injuries at AdventHealth North Hospital.
