300 animals confiscated from filthy conditions at sanctuary

More than 300 dogs, cats, horses, pigs and other animals were confiscated at Napier's Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary, 20010 State Road 64 E in Bradenton.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office, along with other agencies, took the animals due to poor health conditions on the property. The sheriff's office video of the operation shows scenes that look as if they have come from an episode of Hoarders.

Veterinarians examined the animals, a majority of which were dogs.

The investigation involves possible animal cruelty and fraud. The property owners were out of town during the execution of the search warrant. No arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.
