CLEARWATER A Lutz man fired more than six shots from a handgun through the open sunroof of his Volvo while driving this morning on the Memorial Causeway Bridge.

Jelani Dixon, 28, was traveling west on the Clearwater causeway when he began firing his Ruger .40-caliber handgun out of the sunroof at 9:00 a.m., police said.

Police said multiple pedestrians were on the bridge when the gun went off, but no one was injured.

Clearwater police officers found and arrested Dixon on South Gulfview Boulevard, on the same block as the Clearwater Beach Hotel.

He was charged with discharging a firearm from a vehicle in public, a felony. He is being held in the Pinellas County Jail on $10,000 bail.
