New Port Richey pedestrian killed while crossing Ridge Road

NEW PORT RICHEY — An 18-year-old man was killed late Thursday night when he was struck by a car while crossing Ridge Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Ronin Forrester was taken to Morton Plant North Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead, FHP said.

The incident took place at Ridge Road near Regency Park Boulevard at about 10:30 p.m., troopers said. Christian Leppin, 25, was driving a 2008 Chevy Malibu east on Ridge Road, approaching the Regency Park intersection.

Forrester was walking south across the intersection using a crosswalk when he walked into the Chevy’s path, trooper said.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, FHP said.
